Kelsey grew up in North Mankato and attended high school at Mankato West. Her passion for healthcare stems from her type 1 diabetes diagnosis at the age 8. Later on, she gained an interest in leadership after watching her dad pursue his own passions, in mentoring and making a positive impact, as he opened Freedom Home Care during her high school years. She went on to obtain a business degree in Healthcare Administration and graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Kelsey knew she still had areas of interest to explore and decided to pursue a graduate degree from the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, where she graduated from in 2021.

Kelsey has worked in a variety of healthcare settings ranging from an internship at the Mankato Clinic, to studying international healthcare systems while abroad in Ireland. More recently, she served as an Administrative Fellow at the highly regarded Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, TX where she was able to learn from executive leaders and work on a multitude of projects. She still serves as a peer mentor for young adults with type 1 diabetes through a Baylor College of Medicine clinical trial. Kelsey also enjoyed working at FHC as a caregiver for several years during her college summers and breaks.

Kelsey loves to spend time with her fiancé, Sam, parents, two younger brothers, family dog Riley and her dog Luca. Kelsey enjoys traveling, spending time at the lake, listening to true crime podcasts and trying new recipes. She is excited to be back home in the Mankato community and work with the amazing team at FHC to make a difference in people’s lives.
