Makaila Johnson

Caregiver Experience Coordinator, Mankato

Makaila is so excited and grateful to be a part of the Freedom Home Care Team. She has several years of experience working in a variety of care settings as a CNA, culinary host, and Activities Director. Her years of serving seniors has cultivated a deep passion for bringing excellent care to seniors in whatever setting they may call home. These experiences in her career in caregiving motivated her to follow an educational path that focused on what it means to live a meaningful life. Makaila graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. This educational path challenged her to figure out what it means to live a meaningful life. For Makaila, living a meaningful life includes having a safe place to call home, having access to health, being able to foster meaningful relationships, and having the freedom to express oneself. Providing these opportunities to seniors motivates her every single day to bring her best self to the table and to encourage others to do the same.

Makaila enjoys spending time with her first born son, cat, family, and friends. She spends her time listening to music, being outside, hiking, gardening, reading, writing, art, and more. Her most favorite pastime is taking a moment every day to appreciate all the amazing things life has to offer.
